BILL TO STRIP VICE PRESIDENT, GOVERNORS OF IMMUNITY SCALES SECOND READING

A bill for an act seeking to remove constitutional immunity granted Vice President, governors, and deputy governors which was instituted at the House of Representatives has now scaled second reading.

 

During plenary, the bill which seeks to amend the constitution scaled through second reading.

 

The proposal was sponsored by Solomon Bob, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker eho hails from Rivers State.

 

He explained that the bill seeks to “promote accountability in public office” by removing the immunity currently granted to the vice president, governors, and their deputies.”
