Dr. Jebe Abdullahi, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Islamic Matters, had emphasized the need for efforts to maintain religious harmony in Lagos State and Nigeria.
He also urged Nigerians to unite and avoid actions that could occasion religious violence and intolerance in the State
Dr Jebe also encouraged Lagos residents to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat to enhance democratic benefits for the overall interest of all.
He also stated that the Lagos State Government has numerous programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of citizens in the new year.
“It is a truism that Lagos State remains the most accommodating state in Nigeria today, and this is achievable because it has a template for peace among different faiths. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been charged with this responsibility.
“The peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship among different faiths is a result of the consistent promotion of unity, peace, and justice through the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council—the body saddled with the responsibility of providing religious leaders with a platform to promote understanding among leaders and followers, as well as laying the foundation for sustainable peace and religious harmony,” he said.
