‎ARMED ROBBERY AND CULTISM SUSPECT ARRESTED IN ABIA STATE 

Two suspects linked to armed robbery, cultism and vandalisation of government property have been arrested by men of the Abia State Police Command.

‎DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, the Public Relations Officer of the command in an official statement released on Saturday stated that the suspects were identified as Michael Kalu, 21, of Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and Obinna Chimezie, 23, of Aba, Abia State.

‎“Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Abia State Command, on 06/05/2026 apprehended one Michael Kalu, male, 21 years, of Ebonyi State, but resident at Amuma Ohafia Abia State, who is suspected to be an armed robber and a cultist. Exhibits recovered from him include one English pistol and one locally made pistol.

‎“Similarly, operatives of the Osisioma Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended one Obinna Chimezie, male, 23 years, who resides at Borrowed Pit, off Temple Gate, along Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway, while vandalizing a gas pipeline supplying gas to Geometric Power. A toy gun was recovered from him and the tent used for drug-related activities was destroyed”.

‎According to the statement, the suspects are currently in police custody and investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), adding that they will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations
