Commercial activities in Akure were crippled today as thousands of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). There was gridlock on the ever busy Oba Adesida Road as all roads linking to the event were all locked down due to the number of supporters trooping to the venue.
The Akure City Hall was the venue of the official defection ceremony of prominent allies of Governor Olusegun Mimiko; Senator Ayo Akinyelure (All Over) a former senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District and Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi (DPO) a former Special Assistant and Commissioner of Education in Governor Mimiko’s cabinet.
It could be recalled that the duo defected in November, 2015 as today event is the formal receiving ceremony by the leadership of APC in the state led by Hon. Isaac Kekemeke.
Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi while addressing the gathering said Mimiko’s administration is “a government of deceit” and urge his supporters to key into the CHANGE mantra. Senator Ayo Akinyelure noted that he and his supporters moved to the APC fold in the state to add value and win elections for the party.
