‎ANAMBRA FIRE SERVICE CHARGES PROPERTY OWNERS ON SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Sequel to a fire incident at No. 11 Olisa Nwobo Street, by Commissioner Quarters, GRA, in Awka, the Anambra State Fire Service has advised residents and property owners to regularly inspect electrical appliances and wiring installations.

‎Chukwudi Chiketa, the head of the Media and Publicity Unit of the agency in official statement explained that firefighters swiftly responded to the emergency and successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building and nearby properties.

‎It seems that the fire on Friday was accidentally started by sparks from an electrical appliance in one of the rooms in the building. several properties were destroyed in the fire incident although no lost of live was recorded.

‎“The Anambra State Fire Service successfully contained a fire outbreak that occurred at No. 11 Olisa Nwobo Street, by Commissioner Quarters, GRA, Awka, on Friday, March 7, 2026.

‎“The State Fire Service received the distress call at about 1315 hours, and firefighters responded promptly to the scene.

‎“Through swift and professional intervention, the fire was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building and nearby properties.”

‎“Although household items were affected, no casualty was recorded. The fire was largely confined to a single room within the affected apartment.

‎“Firefighting operations were successfully concluded, and personnel withdrew from the scene at about 1545 hours the same day,” the statement added.
