An indigene of Ondo Town in Ondo west local government area of Ondo State, Prince Adedejo Adedamola Bernard, has made a clarion call for swift intervention to Ondo State Commissioner for works , Mr Abiola Olawoye for timely completion of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Oke-odunwo bridge in the town.
In a post obtained by EkimogunMirror news correspondent, the Ondo resident stated in clear terms why it is of utmost urgency to complete the project in time so as to ease burden caused by the closure of Oke-odunwo road and to also reduce the rate of accidents happening as a result of congestion along Catholic junction-AFUED road.
Sir, I write to inundate you with the very unfortunate deaths that continue to occur at “Catholic Junction, Ondo” due to the mounting traffic on that road as a result of the prolong disconnect of the “Oke-Odunwo bridge” for reconstruction.
Sir, just in case you are not aware, the past weeks have been one characterized by agony and despair loss for families who lost their loved ones on that road due to heavy and unusual traffic situations.
Just two days ago, a young promising DJ had an accident on that road and lost his life immediately due to a head injury. This is the latest in list of devastating crashes that claimed lives.
Two weeks ago or there-about, a heavy-duty truck crushed a tricycle and killed the four occupants of the tricycle right on the spot; sir, how many more souls do we have to lose before we do the needful and save the people of needless nightmare ?
I therefore make this call to you just so that you can use your good office to ensure that the *contractor handling the Oke-Odunwo bridge* is made to do his job in good time in a bid to ease traffic on the *AFUED-CATHOLIC JUNCTION axis* of the *Ondo-Ore road* and forestall the unpleasant loss of precious life that we’ve had to grapple with in recent times.
Sir, as an immediate measure to curtail accident and crashes on that axis, I propose very strongly that you ensure the deployment of traffic wardens and traffic control mechanism on that axis and other areas experiencing such unpleasant situation across the state so as to ensure the free flow of traffic and curtail recklessness on that precarious section of the road.
I trust your office would take note of this call and act swiftly in the interest of the lives of residents and indigenes of Ondo State which you swore to protect.
Thanks in anticipation of your swift intervention, sir.
