Mr Wale Aribatise, an alumnus of Liberty Academy, Ibadan has implored Engr Seyi Makinde, the executive Governor of Oyo State to intervene in the ordeal of the school by repairing the roof of the school removed by rainstorm.
He explained that the intervention of the government became necessary as students of the school prepare to resume for the new academic session in September, noting that students of the school deserve a conducive environment for learning.
The Ekiti State-based alumnus, in a statement titled ‘SOS to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State’ made available in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, stated that “rainstorms on June 8, 2025, removed the roofs of many classrooms and other buildings at Liberty Academy, Ibadan.
“The incident has been reported to the Oyo State Government for urgent attention and action, but as at today, the state ministries of Education and/or of Works are yet to take any proactive step to remedy the deplorable situation.
“I don’t want to believe that the Government of Oyo State does not attend to distress calls and emergencies unless it touches people they know directly! This school belongs to the Government of Oyo State.
“Information has it that the students in Oyo State shall resume by mid-September 2025, while the damaged buildings remain without renovation now.
“I appeal to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Seyi Makinde, to speedily attend to this emergency situation through renovation of the damaged buildings in the school before the fast-approaching resumption date.
“The governor’s intervention will save the students from the seasonal inclement weather, as they deserve to study in a conducive environment,” the old student said.
