In a bid to further intensify the massive job creation via agriculture in the Ondo state, the State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ondo State Chapter of Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) and Third National FADAMA project. The agreement was geared towards the development of poultry farming and cassava cultivation in the state.
The Chairman of Ondo State Wealth Creation Agency (WECA), Mrs Bolanle Olufunmiloye, who signed the memorandum on behalf of the government, said the corroboration is needed for the growth and unlocking the potentials of the Agriculture sector of the economy. She also explained that WECA has established a number of agro allied industries for processing among which are 1,000 daily capacity chicken Processing plant in Akure with supporting facilities and cassava processing plant at Ore Agro Business City
Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the state Commissioner of Information, added that the MoU is in line with the policy of the Governor Olusegun Mimiko-led administration to partner with reputable, committed and responsible organisations, groups, corporate bodies and individuals to boost food production, develop the agricultural sector and change the mindset of the youth toward Agriculture by encouraging them in modern system of farming.
The terms of Memorandum of Understanding with the two organizations include among others, production, marketing and distribution of poultry products within and outside the State, production of cassava in cluster farming arrangement, provision of poultry infrastructure, materials and feed for poultry products, production marketing and distribution of cassava products within and outside the state, capacity building and technical training of existing and new pro-farmers.
