The University of Medical Sciences, Ondo begins its staff’s Orientation workshop on Monday 1st of February, 2016 at the Medical Information Centre Hall located within the University.

ORIENTATION WORKSHOP FOR ACADEMIC AND NON-TEACHING STAFF

The University of Medical Sciences in Ondo City, Ondo State was established with the mission to foster excellence in teaching, research and service delivery in all health sciences disciplines. The purpose of the University is to do things differently in ways to correct the present inadequacies that bedevil the tertiary educational system in Nigeria. One of the strategies that the University has identified for achieving its developmental milestones is unrelenting staff training, re-orientation and staff motivation.
To this end, the University is convening a unique staff orientation workshop for its pioneer Academic and Non-teaching staff to build common understanding of the specific methods to be adopted for growing the University to world class status. The workshop will bring together some of the best minds in University education nationally, so that the original philosophy for which University education was first configured in this country can be re-discovered and indeed, modernised.
The objectives of the workshop are as follows:Â 1) to familiarise participants with modern international practices in University education, administration, research methods, and pedagogy; 2) to re-invent the philosophy of universality and basic freedoms that are the time-honoured niches of best performing Universities; 3) to discuss the uniqueness of the University of Medical Sciences, and its role in strongly positioning multi-disciplinary and collaborative research and service delivery in the health sciences; 4) to discuss bench-marking, and how this can be used as a tool for achieving excellence and high international ranking for the University.
Academic and Non-Teaching Staff from other Universities that are grappling with similar problems are encouraged to attend.
