Ondo Speaker Dismisses Impeachment Allegations as Baseless

by Bolaji

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly has dismissed reports alleging a move to impeach him, describing the claims as false and without any factual basis.

The Speaker stated that he has neither received an impeachment notice nor seen any petition purportedly signed by 21 members of the House seeking his removal. He also maintained that he has not committed any impeachable offence that would justify such a process.

According to him, the reports making the rounds are mere speculation and should be disregarded by the public. He stressed that the House of Assembly remains committed to its constitutional responsibilities and legislative duties.

“The allegations are entirely false. I am not aware of any impeachment notice, nor have I been served with any document signed by 21 lawmakers,” the Speaker said.

He further noted that any change in the leadership of the Assembly must strictly follow the provisions of the Constitution and the House’s Standing Orders, rather than unverified reports or political rumours.
