Sixteen (16) suspects accused of terrorising residents in Minna, the state capital have been taken into custody by men of the Niger State Police Command.
Among others, some of the suspects arrested included Najeem Yakubu of Kuta road, Zakari Hussaini of Kuta road, Idris Saidu of Sabongari, Naziru Kabiru of Angwan-Sarki, Shehu Sulaiman of Ogbomosho road, Anas Abubakar of Kotun-Bola.
Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command stated that the suspects were arrested while in possession of cutlasses, saw, sickle, and sticks in an operation carried out around 2am.
“The Police operatives attached to Central Police Div Minna arrested sixteen miscreants between the period of 31st March to 2nd April 2026 terrorising Angwan-Sarki and Ogbomosho area of Minna.
“The suspects were arrested during a house-to-house sting operation at about 2am where the following suspects were arrested; Najeem Yakubu of Kuta road, Zakari Hussaini of Kuta road, Idris Saidu of Sabongari, Naziru Kabiru of Angwan-Sarki, Shehu Sulaiman of Ogbomosho road, Anas Abubakar of Kotun-Bola and others
“Exhibits recovered include two cutlasses, one sickle, one saw, three sticks. All suspects are under further investigations and they will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for diligent prosecution.
