The residents of Ohanku Ndoki in the Ukwa East Local Government Area expressed their profound gratitude over the weekend as the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, initiated the construction of an ultra-modern general hospital in the area, marking the first of its kind in the community.
The traditional ruler of the community, who also doubled as the donor of the land, Eze Chibuzor Chinyere, said, “I am excited because God sent Governor Alex Otti to resurrect healthcare here. The healthcare in Ukwa East has been dead. We have a health centre, but it is not existing. Only cockroaches, rats and reptiles are inhabiting the place.
“Then God remembered us through Otti to build a general hospital for this community. Do you know how many lives that are going to be saved by this hospital? It is going to reduce deaths; this is not a health centre, but a general hospital”.
“When I saw the need, I decided to give out 100 plots, This gesture is to secure the lives of my people and as the king, I believe that lives of my people are more important; and God brought a man; this is just his two years in office. Just imagine what we happen in the next six years to this community and the entire Abia State,” he added.
“This is a general hospital and it will attract at ancillary services. So many people are going to open pharmacy stores around, hotels will open for people to lodge in, and more houses are to be built for people to rent. The hospital is going to bring transformation and life will come back to this community. My people, particularly youths, are happy and they will protect the facility”.
