The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has uncovered a warehouse stocked with banned, fake, and unregistered cosmetic products valued at over ₦3 billion in Lagos State.
The facility, concealed within an uncompleted building at the APT Trade Fair Complex in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, was discovered during routine enforcement operations.
In a statement posted on its X handle on Sunday, the agency described the haul as one of its most significant seizures in recent times, stating that large quantities of prohibited skin-lightening and medicated soap products known to pose serious health risks were found.
“Items recovered include 728 cartons of Crusader soap, 718 cartons of E45 soap, and Extract Gold whitening soaps, which are products banned by the Federal Government.
“Additional items such as assorted perfumes, body oils, and cooking oils were also found and placed on hold for further regulatory assessment. All seized products have been evacuated to prevent distribution,” the statement read.
It added that the warehouse manager has been invited for further questioning as enforcement actions continue.
NAFDAC warned that the sale and use of such products pose serious health risks to consumers.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
