ELEVEN (11) GRADUATE BAGS FIRST-CLASS AT WELLSPRING UNIVERSITY

Eleven students of the Wellspring University, Benin will be conferred with first class degree at the convocation of the university slated for the 17th of October.

 

Prof. Isaac Ajayi, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution made this disclosure at a press parley on Friday in Benin. He also made it known that the university will graduate its first set of the Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science Programme.

 

The VC noted that activities lined up for the convocation week include “a keep fit exercise for staff and students, a novelty game, a debate competition, an exhibition and a research fair.

 

“Others include musical concerts by the school choir, a thanksgiving service and an alumni lecture and dinner.”

 

Professors Ajayi noted that three eminent Nigerians will be decorate with Honorary doctoral degrees and that Dr. Bruno Udoka will deliver the convocation lecture.

 

He stated that the convocation represents another significant milestone in the institution’s journey towards fulfilling the University’s mandate of producing well-rounded and future-ready graduates—men and women imbued with intellectual depth, leadership qualities, entrepreneurial initiative, and godly character.

He added, ‎”The graduation of the pioneer students of our Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science programmes, a historic milestone that reflects the steady growth and expanding frontiers of Wellspring University in the health sciences.”

 

“This year, the Senate is presenting a total of 228 candidates for graduation, 150 for the award of First Degrees, 78 for the award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Master’s Degrees.

 

“The statistics of the First Degree graduands are as follows:11 with First Class Honours, 79 with Second Class Upper Division, 55 with Second Class Lower Division while the remaining students are in other categories.

 

“I am pleased to announce that Miss Eboigbodin Sonia Uwaila in the computer science programme of the Department of Computing, emerged as the Best Graduating Student with a CGPA of 4.96.

 

“Unlike last year when the honour went to a male student, this year a female student has reclaimed the prize—underscoring the healthy academic competition between genders at Wellspring University.

 

“At the postgraduate level, the graduating class includes: 42 with Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD), 1 Master of Business Administration (MBA), 35 with Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees in various fields.

 

“The 2024/2025 academic session has been both eventful and fruitful. We admitted over 800 new students across undergraduate, postgraduate, part-time, top-up, and doctoral categories, bringing our total enrolment to 2,149 students.”
