MOTORCYCLIST, PASSENGER KILLED IN OGUN ROAD CRASH

Two people lost their lives in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred at the Siun junction along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway.

 

It was learnt from the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, on Tuesday, that the accident occurred after a truck lost control and rammed into other vehicles.

 

He noted that the crash, which claimed the lives of a motorcyclist and a female passenger, happened on Monday evening.

 

He identified the vehicles involved as a car with number plate KTU 152 JB, a Mazda bus with number plate LSR 345 YK, a motorcycle with number plate KNN 515 VD, and a truck with number plate T5582 LA.

 

He said, “A fatal multiple RTA happened at the Siun junction along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway.

 

“According to an eyewitness, the accident was caused by brake failure on the path of the truck, which led to a collision with other vehicles and the motorcycle.

 

“A male motorcyclist and the female passenger he was carrying died in the accident.”

 

It was reported on Tuesday that tension rose after some angry youths took to the streets to protest the killing of a bystander, Jide Oyeleke, by a hit-and-run driver on Ewusi Road, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

 

The accident had occurred at about 9pm on Sunday after the driver of a Toyota Camry vehicle, who was said to be driving at top speed, lost control and rammed into Oyeleke.

 

The impact of the collision reportedly led to the death of Oyeleke at the spot of the accident.
