YPP Condemns Vote Buying as Ondo Youths Beg for Stadium Renovation

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Ondo West has condemned the growing culture of vote buying, following a viral video showing youths in Ondo Kingdom prostrating to demand the renovation of the town’s stadium.

In a statement signed by the Acting Publicity Secretary, Olabisi Gideon, the party described the act as a painful reflection of failed leadership and a political system where citizens must beg for basic amenities.

YPP blamed vote buying for the poor state of public infrastructure in Ondo, including the stadium, the Mother and Child Hospital, Oke-Odunwo Bridge, and several township roads. According to the party, politicians now trade money for votes because they lack policies and long-term plans.

“This culture of inducement has left our people in poverty and robbed them of the power to demand accountability,” the statement read.

YPP called on youths to reject vote buying and resist selling their future for temporary gains, insisting that leadership must be earned, not bought.
