I have witnessed a lot of wedding ceremonies by the virtue of my job as a blogger and also as an event compere. I have seen many brides burst into tears the moment they declare them married to their spouses. Many shed tears at the sight of their parents at their wedding halls. I have also seen many grooms shed tears like babies too. Deep within me I sat down to think of reasons why couples could cry on their special day of joy. Many a time their reasons could be different from the guests who had come to celebrate with them and take home wedding souvenirs… I said souvenirs. Your wedding is incomplete without your visitors getting them. Seriously and hilariously let’s consider some reasons why a bride could cry on her wedding.
- JOY OF GETTING MARRIED TO THE MAN OF HER DREAM
For the lady, the wedding day is a day she had always dream of. Before the wedding day she had lived in fear of whether the man is going to marry her or not. For the man making all those beautiful vows at the altar is something memorable. She can’t help but cry because all her wishes of getting married to that man she loves is coming into fulfilment.
- MISSING HER PARENTS
Her dad and mum were her first love even before the husband. She spent the early part of her life with them. Her parents nurtured her to be the perfect woman that caught the attention of the groom taking her away. She is going miss the gist with mum. She is also going to miss dads care. The thought of not going to see her parents for a long time would definitely make her cry at the wedding ceremony..
- DOING WHAT MANY THINK IS IMPOSSIBLE
She has silenced her critics by getting married. Many friends and family members never believed the man would propose to her let alone getting married to her. She cries because she did the unusual.
Having given the reasons why ladies could cry on their wedding day. Let’s take a look at why men could cry on their wedding day:
- LOTS OF DEBTS INCURRED
The man could cry on the wedding day not because he is happy getting married but because of the debt he has incurred in the course of preparation. To him he thinks he is yet to pay the caterer, the musician has not be given his balance, wedding M.C. has not been fully paid, house rent is yet to be paid and many more. All these thoughts make him cry as he walks down the aisle with his woman.
- THE JOY OF GETTING MARRIED TO THE WOMAN OF HIS DREAM
Finally the man is happy he is settling down with the woman he found. Those tears of joy couldn’t help but roll down his eyes as he takes the marriage vow. He is aware of the great commitment that lies ahead in the marriage and he is ready to go through the journey with his wife for better for worse.
I just hope I am not crucified after writing all these reasons (lol). My points are just based on observations and a little bit of humour added to it. Having a glorious wedding is everyone’s dream but more than the wedding let’s look further by making the marriage stand the test of time. Let’s build a home where love and peace truly exist. I congratulate everyone getting married today. Please don’t cry oooo. Lol.
