VC’s SET ADMISSION BENCHMARK AT 150 FOR VARSITIES

Rising from the 2025 policy meeting organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, heads of universities have pegged the 2025 minimum admission benchmark for universities at 150 on Tuesday.

The implication of this decision is that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will restrict universities in the country from admitting any candidate who scores below 150 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination.

However, certain institutions like the University of Ibadan, Pan-Atlantic University, and the University of Lagos, among others, set their benchmark at 200.

It was however reported that some recently established private universities pushed for a JAMB cut-off mark of 120.

Meanwhile, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB registrar advocated for a much higher cut-off figure of 160.
