The newly established University of Medical Sciences, Laje Road, Ondo held its first Council meeting after the Inauguration of members.
As part of plans to begin academic session next year, the University management is putting everything in place to admit its pioneering students.
Our correspondent who visited the University reported that the Council meeting started around 9am on Thursday 17th December, 2015. He said members of staff of the University were on ground as early as possible to receive the council members led by Emeritus Prof. Akinkugbe.
The council members after hours of close door deliberation proceeded on a facility tour of the University.
The council meeting ended with a cocktail party which was attended by important dignitaries among who are High Chief Olabanji Akingbule (The Odunwo of Ondo City), High Chief Akinduro (The Sasere of Ondo City), Chief and High Chief (Mrs.) Gilbert (Lobun of Ondo City), and Hon. (Dr.) Adeyanju (Ondo State Commissioner of Health).
The Registrar of the University Dr. (Mrs) E. F. Oyebade welcomed and thanked guests for honoring the University’s invitation to a cocktail party.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. O. Akinkugbe, in his speech, expressed his confidence that the University has come to stay and enjoined the special guests to provide the necessary assistance for the smooth running of the University.
High Chief Olabanji Akingbule expressed his happiness that the University is sited in Ondo City after Ondo was denied the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University.
