Tinubu Congratulates Grammy Award Winner, Tems

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian music sensation, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems as she wins the Best African Music Performance Award at the 67th annual Grammy Awards held at Los Angeles on Sunday night.

 

In a statement released by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Monday night, he noted that on behalf of the nation, the president commended the artist for her brilliance and unique performances that has brought Nigeria to a place of pride and limelight on the global scene.

 

The president noted that it is remarkable to note that the rise of young talented Nigerians has propelled Afro-beats to international prominence, thereby enhancing the country’s standing as a powerhouse in musical innovation and creativity.

 

“From Africa to Antarctica, Asia to Australia, and Europe to the Americas, the Nigerian music industry particularly Afrobeats has become a source of national pride, promoting a sense of identity and self-expression while uniting people across borders,” he said.

 

The president also congratulated other Nigerian nominees at the event, including Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, Davido, and Burna boy.
