The Green Institute intensified their “Go Green” campaign by organizing a workshop for undergraduate ambassadors. The programme tagged Green Ambassadors’ Training was held on Tuesday 15th December at the MIS building in Adeyemi College of Education.
The Green Institute founder, Miss Adenike Akinsemolu in her presentation defined “Green” as rebirth, growth, health, nature and life. She said the “Go Green” campaign is beyond averting the effect of climate change as it also bothered on living healthy (eating organic foods and frequent exercise), raising eco-conscious kids, social entrepreneurship, team work and combating “corruption”.
Corruption in this context is quite different from embezzlement of public funds but dropping pure water sachet on the floor, eating in excess when other people do not have anything to eat, wasting water when other people don’t have access to portable water are corrupt practices.
Mr Ojomo one of the guest speakers talked about social entrepreneurship, he charged the participants to be innovative by providing solutions to problems. Mr. Kayikunmi Stefan Sogo a student of Energy and Environmental Management at the University of Twente introduced the ambassadors to the basics of renewable energy. Prof. Byron Price from the Barruche College, City of New York enlightened the participants on the opportunities abound in the Green Economy.
After the training, the team paid a courtesy visit to the school Provost Prof. Olukoya Ogen – the institute’s first ambassador. The event was crowned with a sensitization rally within the school premises.
