STUDENT WITH DISABILITIES WIN QUIZ COMPETITION

Three (3) winners have emerged from Lagos State secondary schools in a quiz competition organized for students with disabilities by the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, in conjunction with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

The event themed, “Celebrating the Unique Qualities of Children with Disabilities and Strengthening their Capabilities,” was hosted at LASODA premises in Alausa, Ikeja.

“The initiative aims to promote academic excellence, confidence, and inclusion among students in primary schools with disabilities in Lagos State. It also aims to encourage parental involvement in the education of their children.

“After the keenly contested quiz, Wesley School 2 for the Deaf, Surulere, emerged in first place, followed by Wesley School 1 for the Deaf, Surulere, in second place. Ojuwoye Community School Inclusive Unit, Mushin, secured the third position.

“The highlight of the day was the presentation of gifts and awards to the winners in recognition of their outstanding performance. The event marks another significant step by LASODA towards fostering inclusivity where everyone can participate and thrive regardless of their abilities.

It also provided a platform for students with disabilities to showcase their academic skills and compete on an equal footing with their peers.”
