Sequel to an unfortunate boat tragedy that led to the death of 29 people and left several others injured in Yobe State, Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives has expressed sadness and called for stricter safety protocols.
Musa Krishi, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the speaker stated this on a message issued on Monday while also noting that the Speaker lamented the tragic incident, which occurred on Saturday in Garbi town, Nguru Local Government Area.
Abbas expressed condolences to the victims’ families and the people and government of Yobe State, calling the incident a national loss.
“This unfortunate incident has left us all in deep mourning, robbing families of their loved ones and communities of their vibrant members.
“I pray for the repose of the souls of the departed. May Allah also grant quick recovery to the injured and fortify the survivors with strength during this trying time,” the statement read.
