Re – Crisis Looms As Ondo Lawmakers Report Aiyedatiwa To Tinubu

In a recent development, five members of the House of Representatives have reportedly complained about Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The lawmakers have taken their grievances to President Bola Tinubu, raising concerns about the governor’s actions and decisions.

The lawmakers, led by Hon. Adesida, claim that the state is facing a potential crisis due to Aiyedatiwa’s alleged sidelining of party members and questionable handling of governance. They assert that the governor’s recent decisions, including the dissolution of state executives, indicate a self-serving agenda linked to the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Responding to the accusations, Hon. Abiola Peter Makinde, a ranking member of the House of Representatives representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency, refuted the claims, emphasizing the need for caution in the realm of politics. Makinde highlighted the importance of focusing on genuine service rather than creating turmoil for personal gain.

Makinde questioned the timing and intent behind the letter, expressing skepticism about the lawmakers’ sudden concern for the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. He argued that their actions seemed more aligned with individual political ambitions for the forthcoming election than genuine concern for the state and its people.

The lawmaker accused the signatories of the letter of being driven by personal interests, noting that each of them supports different gubernatorial aspirants in the state. He underscored the need for unity within the party and criticized the lawmakers for allegedly creating fake crises to undermine the rising popularity of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Makinde defended Aiyedatiwa against the allegations, particularly regarding the approval of wage awards and salary arrears. He argued that these initiatives were implemented after Akeredolu’s passing and questioned how  lawmakers, who are supposed to have deep knowledge of how government runs, claim that what is being done now was approved by him over six months ago.

The House of Representatives member also highlighted the governor’s efforts to foster unity within the party and accused the signatories of the letter of attempting to manipulate the political landscape in their favor. Makinde urged his colleagues to engage in responsible politics, emphasizing that peace and development go hand in hand.

In conclusion, Makinde called for a sincere examination of motives, urging his fellow lawmakers to negotiate with the governor rather than resorting to blackmail.
