Former Attorney General and Justice Commissioner in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede SAN says no amount of intimidation, blackmail or undue interference with the administration of Justice will stop him from contesting the November 26 Governorship Election in the state.
In a statement titled “The Will of God and The Desire of the People Cannot be Subverted” which he personally signed in Abuja, Jegede said the recent event is an evidence that some anti-democratic elements are poised to subvert his mandate.
He said as a senior member of the legal profession, he is confident justice would soon prevail.
“Fellow citizens and supporters of our noble cause, the recent event with respect to my candidature for the November 26 Governorship election in Ondo State is a clear evidence that some anti-democratic elements are poised to subvert the will of God and the desire of the people.
We are not unaware of the fact that the anti-democratic elements and their allies in the system have mapped out series of surreptitious tactics to subvert our mandate, and interfere with the course of administration of justice, with the latest of such being a baseless petition against the Justices of the Special Panel set up by the President of The Court of Appeal, to blackmail them to washing off their hands from the case before them.
No matter the act of blackmail, intimidation and undue interference from any quarters, as a senior member of the legal profession, I have absolute confidence in the judiciary as the last hope and bastion of our democratic process.”
Jegede urged the people of Ondo state to remain calm and resolute this victory is just some days ahead adding that he remains committed to the mandate given to him by the Peoples Democratic Party delegates.
“I appeal to you my good people to remain calm, confident and resolute we will be victorious in the days ahead, as nobody and I repeat, nobody can thwart the will of God and the collective desire of the people of Ondo State.
I am unequivocally committed to the mandate given to me by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and her delegates who are representatives of the people of Ondo State.
I am confident that I will contest and win the November 26 2016 governorship election in Ondo State. I shall do everything legitimately possible under the law to protect and preserve this mandate.” Jegede enthused.
He also expressed gratitude for the support, prayers and steadfastness all of his supports all through the struggle he emphasised will soon set a legal precedence in the country. ” I am confident this struggle will soon set precedence in the nation’s democratic annals. We will triumph!” Jegede Said.
