Workers in Ondo State suspended the 30 days strike action embarked upon.
The decision to suspend the industrial action was reached after a meeting between the state government representatives and labour leaders which according to a source took over 12hrs.
According to the source, the state government team was led by the Head of Service (HoS), Bar. Toyin Akinkuotu, while the labor union was led by the Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Public Service Council (JNC), Comr. Sunday Adeleye and the Chairperson of NLC, Comr. Bose Daramola.
The source further informed ekimogunmirror that “after exhaustive deliberation both parties resolved that January 2016 salary be paid in full to all staff in the mainstream, parastatals, HMB, TESCOM and pensioners while all local government staff and primary school teachers be paid February salary in full.
“That March salary be paid to local government staff and primary school teachers in grade 1 – 10.
“That February 2016 salary be paid to health workers in HMB.
“That the Judiciary workers be paid 2 months in full.
“That OSOPADEC be paid from February to April in full.
“That Government has agreed in principle to buy back all outstanding corporate/individual loans of workers; in view of this a seven-man Committee comprising of labour leaders and government representatives has been constituted to negotiate with the affected banks.
“That no worker should be victimized or retrenched as a result of the strike action.
“That Government should step up its IGR drive.
“That all outstanding arrears of salaries and pensions should be offset as a matter of priority.
Accordingly, all state workers are expected to resume back to duty on Friday 1st July, 2016.
