The traditional rulers in Ondo East Local Government Area of the State have extended their congratulations to the newly appointed Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, recognized his election as a positive step forward.
During a courtesy visit to his office in Akure on Thursday, the Iyangede of Epe land, His Royal Majesty Oba Oyebade Akinkuade, led other traditional rulers and the council of Chiefs in expressing their delight at Hon. Oladiji’s new position. He described his election as a significant milestone in the history of Ondo East, as it is the first time that one of their own has become the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
The royal father described Hon. Oladiji as a compassionate individual and a God-fearing person. He expressed confidence that Ondo East would soon witness substantial advancements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education under the leadership of the new Speaker.
During the visit, Oba Akinkuade expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu SAN CON, for his commitment to democracy and the rule of law. He also prayed for the Governor’s well-being and quick recovery.
Oloja Felix Kolawole of Oloja Mobire-Town, Olu Ogunmoyero Philips of Obundo, and Chief (Mrs.) Titilayo Ajayi, the Iyaloja/Iyalaje General of Ondo East also highlighted the significance of having a Speaker from Ondo East, statting that it would bring positive developments for the region. They commended Oladiji for being a grassroots politician and acknowledged him as the first person to introduce the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) to Ondo East.
In response, Speaker Oladiji expressed his gratitude to God for the opportunity and thanked the Governor for his love, trust, and support. He assured the traditional rulers that he would continually make them proud and urged them to maintain peace in their respective areas, as it would foster further development.
The Speaker tasked the traditional rulers to consistently pray for the Governor, whom he regarded as an accomplished leader responsible for bringing happiness to the people through numerous significant achievements in the State.
