As Ondo State joins the world to mark this year’s World Tuberculosis Day the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju said government is working with development partners to reduce the incidence of multi drugs resistant tuberculosis.
The commissioner who dropped the hint in Akure however added that incidence of TB cases has drastically reduced in the state due to the various interventions of the present government.
Adeyanju said government has embarked on sensitisation on health education which includes proper hygiene and using handkerchief to cover the mouth while coughing .
He equally informed that TB drugs and treatment are available in all the secondary health care facilities across the state.
The Commissioner stressed the need to ensure all children are immunised while people should avoid living in a densely populated environment where ventilation is poor.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Find TB, treat TB, working together to eliminate TB” is to ensure that millions of people suffering from TB across the globe go for treatment.
