Chairman of the Ondo State Independent Electoral commission, Prof Olugbenga Ige made the revelation while briefing stakeholders on the preparedness for the poll.
Addressing the gathering, the commission’s chairman, Prof Olugbenga Ige said 30 chairmanship, 30 vice chairmanship candidates and 312 councillorship candidates are jostling for position in the elections which he noted is an indication that the people are enthusiastic about the poll.
He revealed that the five categories of 10,000 adhoc staff will be trained on their roles in the poll all through next week.
He said the commission will make use of the permanent voters card, the 2015 voter’ register, adding that the soft copy of the register will be distributed to political parties next week.
Prof Ige said necessary logistics have been put in place for a hitch free poll, especially in terms of security with the support of all stakeholders.
Speaking after the meeting attended by representatives of 12 of the 14 participating parties, chairman of Labour Party, Wale Gbakinro and his UPN counterpart, Comrade Rotimi Boboye thanked commission for constantly updating them with necessary information on the poll.
Also, the state director of the National Orientation Agency, Bode Famose and coordinator of Ondo Women Must Count, Olamide Falana promised to support the commission in its efforts at ensuring a peaceful poll.
Also at the meeting, the Commission distributed to the representatives of the political parties directory of polling centers as well voter education manual for the upcoming poll.
