NLC DEMANDS 65 YEARS RETIREMENT AGE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

The Nigerian Labor Congress has advocated for the review of retirement age for all categories of civil servants as part of a broad and holistic review of the conditions of service.

This demand was advanced by Joe Ajaero, the National President of the Nigerian Labor Congress in his speech during the May Day celebration in Eagle Square, Abuja.

While presenting some of the demands of the NLC, Ajaero said, “It is imperative to extend the revised retirement age of 65 years or 40 years of service currently enjoyed by teachers, health professionals, and judges to all public servants.”

However, teachers in the service of governments at all levels are already enjoying the implementation of a new retirement age on the strength of an act signed into law by former president Muhammadu Buhari.
