Lassa Fever: Ondo records 2 cases

Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju during a Stakeholders meeting on the prevention of Lassa fever in Akure confirmed 2 cases of the disease with one death and the other receiving treatment.

He said 31 people who had contact with victims are under close surveillance and the government activated all measures to combat the spread. In his words “Our Outbreak Control Team in all the local governments are active, we are keeping surveillance active across the entire state, this is very important because the state boarders with other state to ensure Lassa does not spread around.  For us in Ondo State, we still have our machineries for infectious diseases including ambulances and equipment intact, we just activated them to avert the outbreak.”
