GUN-RUNNER ARRESTED IN PLATEAU STATE, ARMS RECOVERED

A suspected gunrunner has been apprehended by Joint Military Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) with several arms and ammunition recovered in Plateau State.

‎Ishaya Musa, the suspected gun-runner was apprehended on November 14 at the Jebbu Bassa Bypass checkpoint in Bassa Local Government.

‎Major Samson Zhakom, the Spokesman for the Military Task Force who disclosed the arrest through an official statement released on Saturday explained that weapons including six fabricated single-barrel rifles, two fabricated revolver rifles, one Dane gun, one expended cartridge, and other sundry items were recovered from the suspect.

‎“The suspect and recovered items are in custody for further action,” the statement said.

‎“This operation highlights the unwavering commitment of JTF OPEP to protecting law-abiding citizens, preventing the proliferation of illegal weapons, and maintaining peace and stability within the Joint Operations Area,” the statement added.

‎The military implored the public to remain vigilant and provide useful and expeditious information to security agencies, especially as the harvest and yuletide season approaches.
