Governor Aiyedatiwa Declares Thursday, Friday As Public Holidays

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has officially declared Thursday, February 22, and Friday, February 23, 2024, as public holidays to honor the late former Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON.

The public holidays aim to allow residents to actively participate in the burial activities.

The schedule includes traditional rites in Owo on Wednesday, February 21, followed by a special court session and lying in state at Akure Township Stadium.

Thursday, February 22, features a Service of Songs and Wake-Keep in Owo, along with a Candlelight Procession & World Gyration by the Kegites Club.

The main funeral service is set for Friday, February 23, at St Andrews Church in Owo, followed by interment for immediate family only.

Additional events include a memorial football match on Saturday and a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday at St Andrews Church in Owo.
