Our maiden edition features Ms. Adenike Akinsemolu
She is a lecturer at Adeyemi College of Education Ondo and currently a Doctoral candidate of Microbiology at Federal University of Technology Akure.
She is the founder of Green Campus Initiative – raising the awareness of incorporating green living into all elements of living. She also started a girl child advocacy programme tagged Girl Prize with the intent of providing financial and mentorship support to female students in Nigerian Secondary Schools. One of the fascinating things about Ms. Adenike Akinsemolu is her love for the Ondo race; this love is evident by leaving the comfort available in the US to start lives impacting programmes in her native community.
She is a former intern at Clinton Foundation where she joined forces with President Clinton, Hollywood actor Brad Pitt and other students across the world to rebuild homes in New Orleans after the ravaging hurricane Katrina.
Ms. Adenike is an Associate Fellow of Royal Commonwealth Society and member of the National Steering Committee of the Sustainable Energy Practitioners Association of Nigeria. She was recently conferred an award by the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University as an Advocate for Green Environment. Despite being a young woman her exploit has catapulted to be a reckoning force, Melanie Hawken, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of Lionesses of Africa profiled her as one of the Lionesses of Africa.

Ondo is a place of pride. Thus, I am a very confident young woman. Our high self-esteem is often mistaken for pride by outsiders. Ondo indigenes are elegant, cordial, and achievers. This is evident in my style, charisma, passion and determination to never give up on my dreams.

Advice for the youths
Life is a journey, with problems to solve, lessons to learn, but most importantly, experiences to enjoy. All you need is a burning passion, an open mind and a compassionate heart.
How do you cool off?
I like romancing with the environment. I am inspired by nature. I also like eating Asun while hanging out with my friends.
