Shehu Sani, a former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senator has stated that Nasir El-Rufai, former Kaduna State Governor did not participate or play a role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle.
While stating his opinion on Politics Tonight, a TVC political program on Monday, Senator Sani compared his political journey with that of the former governor, nothing that they took an entirely different route into public service.
“For people like Nasir, when they found themselves in a position or office, they don’t know what democracy is all about because they didn’t fight for it,”
He noted that his own foray into public service was characterized by activism and sacrifice, including arrests, imprisonments and persecution under the military dispensation.
“As you see me here, I have been through the rough times of my life. I’ve been through many prisons, I have been through many police stations. I wore prison uniforms.
“I wore leg chains, I wore handcuffs as a political prisoner fighting for this democracy that is 25 years old,” he stated.
