Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has died in a London clinic. The news of his passing was announced by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, via a post on social media platform X.
According to the announcement, the former president passed away on Saturday afternoon. “The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin,” Ahmad wrote.
President Buhari served as Nigeria’s civilian leader from 2015 to 2023, following an earlier tenure as military head of state between 1983 and 1985. He was widely known for his strong anti-corruption stance and efforts aimed at stabilising the Nigerian economy.
Further details on funeral arrangements are expected to be released by the family in accordance with Islamic rites.
