ECOWAS RECOGNIZES THE WITHDRAWAL OF NIGER, MALI, BURKINA FASO

The Economic Community of West-African State (ECOWAS) has officially recognized the withdrawal of Niger, Mail, and Burkina-Faso from the regional bloc.

However, despite the official recognition of the withdrawal, the bloc still allows for seamless trades and the continuation of membership benefit for the benefit of regional stability.

“The withdrawal of Burkina Faso, the Republic of Mali and the Republic of Niger from ECOWAS has become effective today, 29th January 2025,” the statement issued by the ECOWAS Commission on Wednesday read.

However, ECOWAS ensured that all indentiry documents and passport carrying its logo remains valid for citizens of these affected countries. The regional bloc also noted that economic and trade activities will proceed under the existing ECOWAS trade liberalization scheme.
