2.03 Million Candidates Register for 025 UTME- JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that a total of 2,030,627 candidates have registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

It is also reported that this year exercise witnessed the highest number of applications the board has received in its history of conducting the examination.

This disclosure was made on Monday in the board’s weekly bulletin in Abuja. The board explained that the registration exercise for the examination closed on March 8.

The 2024 exercise recorded over 1.9 million candidates who applied for the UTME.

The board made it known that the number excludes the candidates who registered to sit for the examination at foreign designated centres.

It was also made known that 200,115 candidates expressed interest in taking the optional mock UTME, scheduled to hold on April 5, 2025.

“This year, the board implemented several innovative measures to deter cheating and maintain the integrity of the examination process.

“These measures have already led to multiple arrests of candidates attempting to use forged A-level results for admission, highlighting the effectiveness of the new system designed to detect such fraud.

“Candidates are strongly advised to adhere to the examination rules and regulations and refrain from any dishonest practices during the examination,” it added.
